Payton's Story: Paralysis to SkyRise

Posted By Megan Washburn

A high school student and an avid ice skater, Payton experienced a spinal hematoma in 2018 and became paralyzed from the waist down. Just recently, she participated in SkyRise Chicago for the second year in a row, tackling stairs for the virtual event as family cheered her on. The funds Payton raised through her participation will benefit Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s best-in-class care and groundbreaking research.
