Body

Our Women’s Health specialists treat conditions related to pregnancy/post-partum issues, pelvic floor dysfunction/pain, sexual dysfunction and breast cancer rehabilitation (including lymphedema). From teenage girls, moms and female athletes to women with complex conditions like MS, we offer innovative treatments and therapies that help women regain — and maintain — their well-being to once again enjoy active, satisfying lives. We not only address any existing problems, but we can also help you prepare for future physical and mental changes, sometimes reducing the severity of (or preventing) additional health problems.

Do any of these symptoms sound familiar?

  • Does low-back or pelvic pain keep you from lifting your children or grandchildren, or getting down on the floor to play with them?
  • Does incontinence make you nervous to laugh or cough?
  • Does swelling or lymphedema caused by breast cancer treatments make it impossible to wear your favorite top?
  • Do your hips hurt when you go up and down stairs while pregnant or postpartum?

If so, you may be suffering from a musculoskeletal issue — an injury or condition that affects the body’s mechanical structure. Treatments with professionals trained in addressing musculoskeletal concerns specific to women can help you not only get better, but feel better.

AbilityLab’s Inner Strength Initiative®

Body

Because of AbilityLab’s translational model of care, you can also benefit from related research advances that will be directly applied (or “translated”) during your care. Our Inner Strength Initiative® is our commitment to the well-being of women undergoing gynecological procedures, or who are pregnant or postpartum. The goal is to team with you in finding and nourishing your inner physical and mental strength. As part of this initiative, we are conducting women’s health-related research at Prentice Women’s Hospital to help women get the best outcomes, faster.

Team Y.O.U.
The physicians and therapists in AbilityLab’s Women’s Health Rehabilitation program work with you to determine the cause of your pain or difficulty with movement. Together you develop a treatment program that aligns with your needs and goals.

Through our teamwork, you can empower your body and mind through specific physical therapy techniques, including stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as a range of other treatments.
