Our Patient and Family Housing Program provides affordable housing options close to our flagship hospital in downtown Chicago for patients and families in need of accommodations. Please note, all housing is subject to availability.
Patients with Commercial Insurance Plans Who Live 60+ Miles Away*
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is proud to partner with The Hyatt Centric Chicago Magnificent Mile to offer free housing to our patients who are not enrolled in a government health care program and their families traveling from greater than 60 miles.
The Hyatt, a world renowned hotel brand with five star amenities, will provide the highest level of concierge services for our patients and families. Our floor, dedicated to Shirley Ryan AbilityLab patients, will provide many of the comforts of home. It includes a washer and dryer on the floor, as well as a microwave, coffee marker and refrigerator in every room.
Other hotel amenities include cleaning service every four days, onsite dining, full fitness center and accessible pool. Our patients will receive a 20% discount at the hotel’s restaurants (please note, this does not include room service orders or during happy hour). The Hyatt team can also help arrange transportation, offsite dinner reservations and any other reasonable needs that may arise.
Housing is one room per patient/family. However, we will work with the families on a case-by-case basis to assess the need for additional space. To coordinate housing at this location, please work with your admission liaison.
*Due to federal regulations, we are unable to offer this service to patients with Medicare, Medicaid or any other governmental insurance program.
Patients Enrolled in Government Health Care Programs or Travelling Less than 60 Miles
We offer a wide variety of housing options for patients enrolled in government health care programs (such as Tricare, Medicare and Medicaid) and their families or for those coming from a shorter distance. These options include surrounding hotels provided at a preferred rate and furnished apartments. Please work with your admission liaison to determine which option is the best fit for you and your family.
Please work with your Care Manager in Global Patient Services on guidance for the best housing solution for you and your family.
