Lab

LEGs Lab: Improve dynamic lateral balance of humans with SCI
This project will test whether robotic balance training paired with transcutaneous spinal stimulation will be effective in improving dynamic balance and locomotor function in humans with SCI.
Research Project
Limb Motor Control Lab: Motor Cortical Representation of Reaching and Grasping
The foundation of our work has been for many years, the study of the brain's representation of reaching and grasping movements.
Research Project
Neurorehabilitation and Neural Engineering Laboratory
At the Neurorehabilitation and Neural Engineering Laboratory, the goal of our research is to develop improved intervention strategies for gait rehabilitation. Led by P.I. Dr. Jose Pons PhD.
Lab
Center for Rehabilitation Outcomes Research (CROR)
This lab focuses on outcome studies, measuring the long-term impact of medical rehabilitation in patients with disabilities.
Lab
Regenerative Neurorehabilitation Laboratory
This lab uses a combination of molecular, biochemical, and electrophysiological assays to study axon regeneration and motor neuron disease with a priority on human preclinical models such as iPSC-neurons.
Lab

Näder Lab: Assessment and Monitoring of Neuromotor Function through Advanced Dynamic Pose Estimation
We will use videos of people with Parkinson's disease (PD) doing different things to develop sophisticated computer programs that can detect specific movement patterns that are only seen in people with PD. We will then see how well our computer programs can diagnose early PD, compared with medical and clinical professionals.
Research Project

Leora Cherney, PhD, Named Research Chair for Shirley Ryan AbilityLab
Dr. Cherney to serve as chair of Think + Speak Lab within RIC’s new research hospital.

MARS3: Machines Assisting Recovery from Stroke and Spinal Cord Injury for Reintegration into Society
We work toward a future where robotics for rehabilitation are used from applications in therapy to assistance in improvement of managing life after neural injury.
Lab
Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory
We focus on executive function and social cognition, their representations in the brain, and ways to improve these functions in patients with brain damage.
Lab
Single Motor Unit Laboratory
We record electrical activity from single motor units as well as muscle during voluntary and reflex contractions in patients with neurological disorders.
Lab
RRTC: Employment and Disability
This lab is for the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Employment for People with Physical Disabilities.
