User Interaction with Active Wheelchair Driving Assistance

Objective

Shirley Ryan Ability Lab is conducting a research study that will investigate the use of active drive assistance system for power wheelchairs. We are looking for participants who use a power wheelchair for their own mobility, and who experience some difficulty driving their power wheelchair (e.g. when backing up, navigating tight spaces) 

Your participation will be used to learn and evaluate this new approach to driving a wheelchair. 

Participants in this study will drive a power wheelchair through a predetermined course.

The study length will be 5-8 sessions and be approximately 2-3 hours each.

Who Can Participate

  • Ages 12 and up
  • Able to give informed consent
  • Use a power wheelchair for mobility

Compensation

Participants will receive a stipend of $70 per session and be reimbursed for travel.
