Sexuality & Fertility after SCI

Description: “What does this mean for my sex life?” “Can I have children?” This webinar will focus on an interdisciplinary approach to understanding how to answer these common questions from patients after a spinal cord injury (SCI). The evidence-based content, along with expert consensus, provided throughout this webinar will assist healthcare professionals to develop the knowledge and identify resources needed to engage in conversations regarding sexuality and fertility after spinal cord injury. This webinar will focus on increasing knowledge to improve comfort in addressing this conversation through defining the anatomy and physiology of sexual function related to SCI, treatment options and available data and resources.

Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define anatomy and physiology effect of spinal cord injury (SCI) on sexual functions.
  • Identify treatment and options to improve sexual function and maximize fertility.
  • Describe ways to introduce education on sexuality and fertility after SCI to patients.
  • Analyze statistics and resources surrounding relationship status related to SCI.
