DESCRIPTION
This webinar will review the current diagnosis and management of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) through the most common medication therapy, current evidenced-based treatments, practice parameters and strategies in rehabilitation management of PD. We will discuss how regular physical exercise acts as a powerful neuroprotective tool for Parkinson's disease to improve both motor and non-motor symptoms. Finally, case-based applications will guide rehabilitation therapists to optimize patient-centered plans of care based upon their medical regimen and stage in the disease process.

LEARNER OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:  

  1. Define the syndrome of idiopathic PD, its epidemiology and etiology
  2. Describe the physical symptoms, non-motor symptoms and cognitive changes in PD
  3. List the most common medications and current treatments in advanced PD
  4. Analyze PD-specific motor and non-motor issues to define management strategies within the concept of neuroprotective therapy in PD

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION
