Translational Cancer Rehabilitation Lab

Our lab studies the physiologic mechanisms that lead to change in physical or cognitive function for patients with cancer. In particular, we are currently focused on cachexia syndrome, a muscle wasting disorder that affects a majority of patients with cancer, along with many other chronic disease.

About Me

Kayla Beck graduated from Emory University with highest honors in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. Previously, she studied neurodevelopmental trajectories in preterm and high-risk infants. She joined the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in June 2025, where her work focuses on anatomical and physiological variability and the mechanisms underlying cancer-associated cachexia.
