About Me

About Me

Adenike Adewuyi, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist with fellowship training and board certifications in Neuromuscular Medicine, Electrodiagnostic Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She serves as Co-Director of the Nerve CARE Clinic — the Nerve Injury Collaborative for Ability Restoration and Excellence — as an interdisciplinary program dedicated to restoring function after complex nerve injury. Her clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and management of nerve and muscle disorders, with particular expertise in complex nerve injuries occurring in individuals with spinal cord injury, stroke, amputation, and other rehabilitation-related conditions

Dr. Adewuyi also specializes in the management of spasticity, dystonia and thoracic outlet syndrome using ultrasound- and electromyography-guided procedures, including botulinum toxin injections and intrathecal baclofen therapy.

Her research focuses on understanding lower motor neuron health and degeneration after spinal cord injury. Using advanced neurophysiological techniques, including motor unit analysis and electrophysiological biomarkers, her work seeks to identify mechanisms of motor neuron loss and recovery. The ultimate goal of her research is to improve patient selection, timing and outcomes for restorative interventions aimed at maximizing neurological recovery and function after injury.
