On Thursday, Oct. 14, hundreds of well-wishers greeted Chicago Police Department officer Carlos Yanez Jr. as he was discharged from Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
A bagpiper provided the soundtrack as Officer Yanez was escorted out of the flagship hospital by his care team, and a mariachi band played as his therapists helped him transfer to his car.
