Body
To be considered for a DAISY Award, nurses first must be nominated by a current or former patient, a family member or caregiver of a patient, or by an employee for the life-changing, exceptional care they’ve provided. DAISY nominations hinge on the concept of going “above and beyond” in communication and critical thinking skills, commitment to the highest nursing practice standards, building trust with patients and families, and focus on patient and family goals. After nominations are submitted, the DAISY Award committee (comprising stakeholders from throughout Shirley Ryan AbilityLab) votes blind to choose a winner.
