Shirley Ryan AbilityLab offers employees paid holidays for the following: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Holiday time is prorated for part-time employees.
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab offers a generous paid time off ("PTO") policy to allow employees to take time away from work and to renew. Depending on position and tenure, employees accrue up to 25 or 30 PTO days a year, starting from Hire Date. Employees may use PTO after their 90-day probationary period ends.
Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab provides a confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Reliance Standard and administered by ACI Specialty Benefits to all employees and their dependents, starting from Hire Date. EAP includes Ability Assist, Bereavement Assist, and Travel Assist.
Health Insurance Benefits
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab offers three different medical plans through BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois: HDHP, HMO, and PPO. Employees who enroll in the HDHP have access to a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Income Protection and Life Insurance
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab provides Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability insurance coverage to provide income replacement benefits when employees experience an illness or injury outside of the workplace and are unable to work for a continuous period of time.
Life and AD&D Insurance
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab provides Basic Life and Basic AD&D insurance coverage to help provide a financial peace of mind to in the event of a loss. Employees may purchase supplemental life insurance coverage for themselves, their spouses and domestic/civil union partners, and their children.
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab provides employees with a generous 401(k) retirement savings plan. All eligible employees receive a discretionary 3% employer contribution. Employees can also contribute via pre-tax or Roth (after-tax) deferrals through payroll deductions and receive a discretionary employer match of $0.50 for every $1.00 contributed up to 6%. Employees enter the 401(k) on the 1st day of the month coincident with or following 90 days of employment. Discretionary employer contributions and discretionary matching contributions vests 50% after one year of employment and 100% after two years of employment.
