About Me
About Me
Michelle LaGrone, relocated to the Chicagoland area to fill the position of Manager, Spiritual Care with Shirley Ryan AbiliyLab. She enjoyed 15 years of working at St. Louis Children’s Hospital serving in multiple roles within the pediatric hospital setting. She worked as PRN Chaplain; Spiritual Care Residency Intern; Hematology Oncology Chaplain; Chaplain Coordinator and Chaplain Supervisor. After living through and bearing witness to the disparate patient care and varied experiences in healthcare, Michelle took steps to gain more training to better serve patients, family and staff in her care. She gained training with Diversity Awareness Partnership’s Give Respect-Get Respect program and served from 2015 to 2017. This provided the opportunity to facilitate small group anti-bias dialogue and learning with middle and high school students, their teachers and corporate professionals around anti-bias dialogue and learning to raise awareness for the need for systemic reimagining and taking personal responsibility toward respect, acceptance and advocacy for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (in gender identity, race, religion, ability and sexual orientation). As a Chaplain, this experience has deepened her ongoing passion for continued learning, exposure to growing cultures and partnering to advocate for the many needs of patients, their caregivers and the staff supporting them.
