About Me

Sheila Burt is the lead science writer and communications specialist at the Center for Bionic Medicine. In this position, she works with the hospital's research scientists and clinicians in the development of grant proposals. She also manages content for the lab's website and contributes to the editing and writing of journal articles and book chapters.

Before joining the Center for Bionic Medicine, Sheila was an English teacher in rural Japan and previously worked as a freelance local news reporter in the Chicago area. She received a master’s degree in science writing from The Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
