spinal cord injury stimulation study

Research Study

Body

Participate in a novel research study at the Shirley Ryan Abilitylab to improve the function of your muscles after a spinal cord injury. This study is 10-40 sessions of non-invasive stimulation paired with exercise training in the upper and lower limbs. The lower exercise training will involve over-ground walking, FES, biking, treadmill walking, stair climbing, and standing balance. The upper exercise training will involve hand cycling, reach and grasp of small objects (peg, bead, pinch pin, cube), and gross grasping of large objects (jars, lids, cups). You can participate in one or both of the training groups depending on the level of the injury. We offer flexible schedules and compensation for participation.
