According to Alex Johnson, PhD, provost and vice president at MGH Institute of Health Professions — and past president of ASHA — Dr. Cherney’s work “blends science, patient needs and the real clinical world. In the ceremony, ASHA referenced Dr. Cherney's outstanding professional accomplishments:

  • She founded and directs the Center for Aphasia Research and Treatment, which offers the specialized Intensive Comprehensive Aphasia Program and weekly aphasia community groups.
  • She has published five books, 14 book chapters, 75 peer-reviewed scholarly articles, three aphasia treatment software programs and a self-report assessment for aphasia.
  • Since 2000, she has given more than 85 invited presentations around the world and 127 peer-reviewed
