Limb Loss Awareness Month Events

Limb Loss Awareness Month 2017

The Amputee Coalition has designated April as Limb Loss Awareness Month to raise awareness about limb loss and limb loss prevention. The coalition estimates that approximately 2 million individuals are currently living with limb loss in the United Sates, and that each year, approximately 185,000 amputations occur in the U.S.

In recognition of Limb Loss Awareness Month, our Prosthetics and Orthotics team has organized two exciting events. Patients, staff, families, and friends are welcome to attend!

Panel Discussion featuring researchers Drs. Todd Kuiken, Elliott Rouse and Levi Hargrove with Paralympian Patrick Byrne and opening remarks from Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).

Dance Event, featuring performances by patients of the Prosthetics & Orthotics Clinical Center. Prosthetic technologies will also be showcased.
