Objective
The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking neurological patients with one or more white matter lesions causing disconnection of cortico-cortical pathways. Primary populations are patients diagnosed with stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or multiple sclerosis (MS). Exclusion criteria include epilepsy/seizures and incompatibility with MRI or TMS.
During the study, participants will be stimulated with non-invasive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) while seated in a comfortable chair. To measure brain and muscle activity electrodes will be attached to the head and skin.
In two visits, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will be used to observe the brain.
Who Can Participate
- English speaking adults
- Patients diagnosed with stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or multiple sclerosis (MS).
- Available to come to the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab for thirteen 1-4 hour visits
Compensation
Participants will be compensated up to $40/visit for their time and effort.
