Clinical Trial

Targeted Muscle Reinnervation Surgery for Individuals with a Transradial Amputation

Kristi Turner

The Center for Bionic Medicine at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and Northwestern University are looking for volunteers to participate in a research study titled: Application of Targeted Reinnervation for People with Transradial Amputation (STU00101444).

We are inviting those who have a unilateral (one-side) below-elbow amputation to do laboratory and at home testing of a multi-articulating prosthesis. Participants must be willing to undergo Targeted Muscle Reinnervation surgery - an established surgical procedure that provides easier, more intuitive prosthesis control for individuals with arm amputation.

Who Can Participate

Individuals with a unilateral (one-side) below-elbow amputation

Research participants will be compensated and allowed to keep the prosthesis at the end of the study. All costs associated with the TMR surgery will also be covered.

Age Range

Age Range 18 and older
