Reviewing the Impact of Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer on Cognition

Description:  A state of the science review on cognitive impairments (commonly known as ‘chemo brain’ or ‘chemo fog’) associated with chemotherapy for breast cancer will be provided. The review will include a discussion of affected cognitive domains with a spotlight on verbal memory impairments and a synopsis of known interventions.

Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify some of the cognitive impairments associated with chemotherapy for breast cancer
  • Identify verbal memory and word retrieval deficits associated with chemotherapy for breast cancer
  • Gain familiarity with current screening guidelines and how to implement such screening
  • Identify current research on interventions for these impairments
