Description:  This course will address multiple aspects of the rehabilitation of a patient with burns.  It will explore the prevalence of this diagnostic group and unique factors to consider in assessment and treatment planning.  Classification of burns will be reviewed as well as how the depth and location of a burn impacts course of treatment.  Instructors will highlight important components of a skin assessment, considerations in treatment planning, and psychosocial factors to keep in mind during evaluation and treatment.

Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Discuss the prevalence of burns and role of rehabilitation in burn management.
  • Summarize the types of burns and issues in burn assessment and treatment.
  • Describe the elements of a detailed skin assessment and what to consider in developing a treatment plan.
