11/03/21: Pediatric Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI): A State of the Field for Clinicians

Description: Pediatric CVI has become the leading cause for low vision among children, and with medical advancement incidence is expected to only increase. In response, methods for screening, monitoring and treating children with CVI are being reimagined and examined. This course will offer a review of what is known and highlight work in development. Learners will become familiar with current diagnostics and be able to utilize use them to inform clinical care and educate caregivers.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain CVI using non-technical language.
- Identify signs and risk factors for pediatric CVI and generate appropriate referral.
- Recognize diagnostic and assessment measures and use them to inform care.
- Access resources on the best evidenced assessment and habilitation strategies.
