Return to Work for Patients after Brain Injury

Description: Return to work after a brain injury can present significant challenges. This course will focus on identifying cognitive issues impacting vocational planning; determining readiness for return to work and strategies for implementing a plan for successfully addressing a realistic plan for return to work; and continuing speech pathology support throughout the return to work process; reassessing therapy needs post-return to work.

Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Outline the cognitive and/or language impairments impacting vocational goals.
  • Identify the “right time” and benefits of returning to work.
  • Recognize the factors that impact on success of returning to work.
  • Summarize how to determine realistic return to work goals.
  • Discuss how to address compensatory strategies and accommodations for a successful return to work plan.
