The purpose of the Remarkable Image of Caring Award is to recognize a patient care technician (PCT), medical assistant (MA), rehabilitation technician, patient support aide, or nurse intern who demonstrates excellence in the role of patient caregiver. The award winner will be announced during Nurses Week 2019, May 6th through 12th.

- Applies customer care principles always putting the patient first
- Assists the individual with a disability in getting the most out of their rehabilitation program
- Assists the interdisciplinary team in carrying out the nursing care and the treatment plan under the direction of licensed personnel
- Constantly looks for opportunities to improve work flow and assist the nurse with all tasks as needed
- Treats all with respect and cares for patients with empathy
- Observes patient and communicates ongoing with the nurse on progress with patient care
- Maintains an environment that provides for comfort and care for patients and families
- Anticipates and offers assistance to the patient and family as well as other staff members
- Projects a positive image and outlook in all interactions
- Identifies patient preferences and prioritizes care needs
- Seeks out opportunities to meet physical, emotional, and social needs of the patient and family
- Maintains privacy and promotes dignity for patients
